Wheel Throwing & Handbuilding Course
This 8-week course is designed to elevate your skills and explore surface design techniques. The course will not meet during the week of November 23rd or from December 21st to January 3rd.
Course Details:
Dates: 8 Tuesdays, 6:00–8:30 PM
Ages: 18+ (or accompanied by an adult)
Instructor: Courtney Maulding
Experience Level:
Experience in clay is helpful. Students with wheel throwing experience are welcome to use the potter’s wheel during class.
What You'll Learn:
Creative surface design techniques, including:
Printing on slabs with cyanotypes
Underglaze transfers
Latex Resist
Shellac Resist
Decals
Tyvek Patterns
Focusing on both form and surface to enhance your work and personalize your pieces
Projects:
Students will work on a variety of functional projects that incorporate innovative surface techniques, helping you refine your handbuilding practice and incorporate new ideas into your work.
What’s Included:
12 lbs of porcelain clay plus unlimited brown stoneware clay
Firing of up to 10 pieces
All tools and materials provided
Studio glazes
6 hours of open studio time weekly for additional practice
Kiln space for up to 10 finished pieces throughout the session; additional firings available for a small fee
Important Notes:
Must be 18 or older, or accompanied by an adult
Attendance at the first class is expected
Cancellation Policy:
Full refunds available if canceled 14+ days before the start (minus a $30 processing fee)
No refunds or transfers within 10 days of the start or after the course begins
