An artist-owned & run ceramic studio in Portland, OR.

Nola Clay is a ceramic arts studio located at 3905 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Portland, Oregon

The studio was founded by Kelly, an artist with a deep love for clay and a passion for community. Kelly first discovered ceramics in 2007 while pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in printmaking. Over the years, she honed her craft through her own production, teaching classes, managing community studios, and working as a studio technician. With over 15 years of hands-on experience and a heart full of inspiration, Kelly dreamed of creating a space where art and connection could flourish.

For Kelly, ceramics is more than just an art form—it’s a way to connect with others. Her dedication to inclusivity and creativity shines through in every corner of the studio. When she’s not in the studio, you can find her exploring Portland’s vibrant art scene, hiking Oregon’s trails, or spending time with her three dogs (and occasional studio mascots!).

At Nola Clay, we believe art is for everyone. We’re proud to be a welcoming space that celebrates all identities, cultures, and backgrounds. Whether you’re a first-time creator or an experienced ceramicist, you’ll find a supportive and encouraging environment to explore, experiment, and have a laugh.

We offer a range of classes for all skill levels, along with open studio access and special events to connect with fellow artists. From beginner workshops to advanced techniques, there’s something for everyone. Come as you are—bring your ideas, some jokes, and a little curiosity.
